I believe salmon may lose a lot more than their sense of smell in coming years - such as the formation of their skeleton, (acidification), fertility, food sources (bottom-up trophic cascade), etc.
A recent study at the University of Washington: Coho salmon may lose the ability to smell danger as carbon emissions rise.
